Cari Connazionali, dear Friends of Italy and of Italian Art,

I hope that many of you have had the opportunity to visit the exhibition "Now and Then: Guercino/K. Chiurai" at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA). The show, which has attracted wide praise among both the experts and the general public, is due to close next September 24, 2018.

On such occasion, to offer you a last chance to see the Madonna con Bambino Benedicente and to discover more about this master’s unique style and painting techniques, we have invited the top Italian expert on Guercino, Dr Barbara Ghelfi, Associated Professor of History of Modern Art at the University of Bologna, Italy.

Dr Ghelfi will give a talk titled Guercino: Beyond Colour, which will explore, with the support of images and videos, Guercino’s extensive career. The lecture, in particular, will disclose the recent discoveries emerged on the artist’s work through cutting-edge diagnostic examinations, a procedure so far only implemented on the work of few other masters like Caravaggio and Leonardo.

The lecture will start at 18h30 sharp, in  the presence of, among others,  the Ambassador of Italy Pier Giovanni Donnici and of the new Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria Fabio Troisi.

Light refreshments will be served after the talk, and all the guests will have a last opportunity to visit the show.

Seats are very limited so your early response will guarantee your seat. Kindly RSVP to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Looking forward to seeing you at the lecture, I send you my warmest regards.
