Giuliana Loi Cockcroft prima presidentessa nei trent'anni del Fogolar Furlan di Città del Capo

Il 16 settembre pranzo di selvaggina e polenta, seguito da tombolata al Club Italiano -

Cari soci e amici del Fogolar Furlan,
Ringrazio tutti coloro presenti per aver partecipato al pranzo e all’Assemblea Generale del Fogolar Furlan tenutasi il 10 Giugno 2012, preceduta dalla Messa concelebrata dai Padri Giovanni e Jorge. Il presidente uscente, Vic Colussi, ha ringraziato tutti i soci e non soci per la loro partecipazione alle nostre feste, specialmente il comitato uscente e non membri del comitato, che
hanno collaborato alla riuscita di tutte le feste, inoltre ha fatto un breve riassunto delle feste dell’anno precedente. Il Tesoriere, Linda Borean, ha presentato il Bilancio Finanziario dell’anno precedente, con copie disponibili per tutti.

Vic annunciò con dispiacere, di non poter ricandidarsi per ragioni personali, ma sarebbe disposto ad assisterci quando sarà necessario in occasione delle feste. A questo punto anche
Gabriella Bieber e Rosanna Davidson si sono dimesse. Vic ha presentato omaggi a Gabriella, una dei soci fondatori e prima segretaria del Fogolar, e a Rosanna, Segretaria per 10 anni, in
apprezzamento per il loro lavoro e assistenza svolta. I membri del comitato che erano disposti a ricandidarsi sono: Linda Borean, Roberto Bottega, Giuseppina Loi, Tosca Innes, e Valerie Bottega che rimarrà cooptata. I nuovi candidati nominati sono: Enrico Uliana, Giuliana Cockcroft, Lidia Swain e Angela Swain.

Alla prima riunione del nuovo comitato, tenutasi il 17 Luglio, 2012, Tosca Innes si è dimessa per motivi personali, e come Vic, sarà disposta ad assisterci quando sarà necessario in
occasione delle nostre feste.

Il nuovo comitato eletto è composto da: Giuliana Cockcroft, Presidente (la prima donna Presidente del Fogolar Furlan in 30 anni, nella foto con la sua famiglia) Enrico Uliana: Vice Presidente; Linda Borean: Tesoriere;
Giuseppina Loi e Lidia Swain (con l’assistenza di Angela Swain): Segretarie; Roberto Bottega: Consigliere; Valerie Bottega: membro del comitato cooptata.

La prossima festa si terrà il 16 Settembre, 2012, al Club Italiano, Donegal Street, Rugby, con pranzo di Selvaggina e Polenta, generosamente offerta e preparata da Adriano Schincariol.
Il prezzo sarà Soci R95 (adulti ) e R45 (bambini sotto 12 anni). Non soci R110.00 (adulti) e R55 (bambini soto 12 anni). Bambini sotto 4 anni – gratuiti. DOPO IL PRANZO SEGUIRA’ LA TOMBOLA,
che è sempre molto divertente.

Se non avete Internet Banking, sarebbe un grande risparmio per il Fogolar di non depositare in contante o assegno in banca, ma pagare all’ingresso il giorno del pranzo.

Sarebbe una buona occasione per avere una numerosa presenza di soci e amici del Fogolar alla prima festa del nuovo comitato, anche tutti gli studenti che hanno partecipato ai soggiorni in Friuli nel 2010 e 2011!

Congratulazioni ai nonni Enrico e Liz Uliana per la nascita del nipotino, Oliver, figlio di Samantha (Uliana) e ai nonni Lori e Paddy Colussi, per la nascita della nipotina, figlia di Tessa
(Colussi) e marito, Warren Dam.

Congratulazioni alla Signora Domenica Ferucci, socia onoraria del Fogolar, che ha compiuto il 90mo compleanno il 14 Agosto, 2012.

Auguriamo un buon viaggio a coloro che andranno in vacanza in questo periodo. Mandiamo i nostri migliori auguri e preghiere per una pronta guarigione a tutti gli ammalati.

Giuliana Loi Cockcroft first Lady President of the Fogolar Furlan in Cape Town

Dear Members of the Fogolâr, Friulani and Friends,

Thank you to all who attended our 31st Annual General Meeting on Sunday 10 June 2012. We began with Holy Mass, which was celebrated by Padri Giovanni and Jorge. Outgoing President, Vic Colussi, welcomed everyone and thanked all members who supported our functions and more importantly, his committee, for ensuring that all functions ran according to plan. He pointed out that the assistance of non-committee members is very much appreciated and valued. Vic also gave a brief report of functions held during the previous year.

Our Treasurer, Linda Borean, presented the financial report for the previous year, copies of which were available to members. Vic announced that regretfully, due to current commitments, he would not be able to serve on the committee, but expressed his willingness to assist whenever necessary. Gabriella Bieber and Rosanna Davidson have also retired from the committee. Presentations were made to Gabriella, a founder member of the Fogolâr Furlan and its ?rst Secretary, in appreciation of her hard work and dedication to our society and to Rosanna, Secretary, who is retiring from the committee after ten years.

Committee members who made themselves available for reelection were: Roberto Bottega, Linda Borean, Giuseppina Loi and Tosca Innes. Valerie Bottega will remain as a co-opted member. The new committee members are: Lidia Swain, Angela Swain, Enrico Uliana and Giuliana Cockcroft. At the ?rst meeting which was held on 17th July 2012, Tosca Innes stood down from the committee due to work pressure.

The new committee is as follows: Giuliana Cockroft is the new President of the Fogolâr – ?rst female President of the Fogolâr in 30 years. Enrico Uliana: Vice President; Roberto Bottega: Councillor; Giuseppina Loi and Lidia Swain, assisted by Angela Swain: Secretaries; Linda Borean: Treasurer; Valerie Bottega: a co-opted member.

Our next function will be a lunch at the Italian Club, Donegal St, Rugby, on Sunday 16 September 2012, for which Adriano Schincariol has kindly offered to provide and prepare Venison and
Polenta. Lunch for members will cost R95 (adults) and R45 (children under 12). For non-members the cost will be R110 and R55 respectively. There is no charge for children under 4.

TOMBOLA WILL FOLLOW AFTER LUNCH, which is always enjoyed by all.

Our condolences go to Enrico Uliana and his family on the death of his mother, Giuseppina, and congratulations to him and Liz on the birth of their grandson, Oliver, born to daughter
Samantha and Rob.

Condolences also to Fiorina Battiston and her family on the death of their beloved Sante, to Nives Licata and family on the death of her husband, Turri, and to Maria Licata and family on
the death of her husband, Kenny.

Congratulations to Lori and Paddy Colussi on the birth of a new granddaughter, born to daughter Tessa and Warren Dam.

Congratulations also go to our honorary member, Domenica Ferucci, who turns 90 on 14 August.

We wish all those who are travelling a safe journey and safe return. And, as always, our thoughts and prayers are with those who are ill.
